First Annual Run For Aurora 50K and 50 Mile race

The first annual Run For Aurora 50K and 50 Mile Race was a success! We had 40 registered runners, 36 starters and 33 finishers.

Although the course was tough, the weather was perfect and we saw some great performances by Rick Scott and Elizabeth Gold in the 50 Mile Race (finished 1st and 2nd respectively), and Letitia Dusich and Ben Dicke in the 50K (finished 1st and 2nd respectively).

A huge thanks to our three great volunteers, Emily Luhrs, Rebecca Walker, and Shelby Berg, and our fantastic sponsors Stadium Medical and Dr.

Giving Back to the Aurora Theater Shooting Victims
Claire Dorotik

For race director and founder of Run With It Racing, Claire Dorotik, running has always given back. Whether it be overcoming personal tragedy -- the loss of her father in 2000 -- or redefining what is truly possible and once again learning that, “limits do not apply” running has been more than just an exercise. Running has been a way of life. “Running teaches you that your behavior matters,” which, as Claire, also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, notes, is an “essential part of improving overall happiness.

Run For Aurora has two new sponsors!

So glad to announce that the Run For Aurora 50K and 50 Mile race now has two new sponsors:

Your support is much appreciated!

Does Running Help Cure Depression?

While it has been called by Robert Sapolsky, acclaimed stress researcher as the most insidious of all mental health problems, many of us simply write off depression. We think, 'I'll get through this, after all, everybody gets the blues,' and we just push through.

Yet, as Sapolsky notes, real depression is best described as "anhedonia" or absence of pleasure. That's rights, absence of pleasure -- in anything -- and it can wreck havoc on our ability to function, concentrate, and relate to one another.
